For our latest project in Coombe Dingle, we were called in to modernize a ceiling that had previously been covered in lining paper. Rather than simply skimming over old material, we opted for over-boarding to ensure the most secure and level foundation possible.
We installed 12.5mm plasterboard directly over the existing ceiling, using 60mm screws to fix securely into the joists above. This method provides a fresh, solid surface that eliminates the imperfections of the old papered ceiling.
While on-site, we also stripped the wallpaper from the walls. It became clear that the substrate needed more than just a quick patch-up, so we applied two coats of Multi Finish Plaster to the walls to correct the uneven surfaces. The room has been transformed from a tired, papered space into a crisp, smooth environment ready for the customer to decorate.
